Project work includes producing short-form projects like commercials, podcasts/vodcasts and animations.
Year 2: Advanced Techniques and Assistant Roles
In the second year, you’ll refine your skills with training in advanced production techniques and masterclasses led by industry professionals. Focus areas include cinematography, audio production and roles within pre- and post-production. You’ll step into assistant roles in larger film and scene projects. Additional opportunities allow exploration of expressionist filmmaking, narrative audio, and the intersection of gaming and filmmaking including virtual production and interactive media.
Year 3: Professional Practice and Leadership
The final year emphasises professional practice as you take on leadership roles in the School’s film and scene projects. You’ll oversee independent productions in collaboration with peers, culminating in a fully realised film piece. The course prepares you for successful careers through workshops, mentorships and industry engagement.
Graduates of the BA (Hons) Film & Television Production will be well-prepared for careers in the film, high-end television (HETV) and media industries. The programmeâs vocational practice-based training equips students with both foundational and advanced skills, blending hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge to ensure a well-rounded education in the craft of filmmaking.
The programme supports your career launch through a series of workshops, mentor sessions, placements, studio tours, expos and industry networking events. This approach provides invaluable opportunities to build a network of contacts and secure future employment.
Throughout the course, you will develop technical, interpersonal and professional skills through real-world projects and industry placements. The diverse range of projects allows you to hone your creative storytelling abilities and technical expertise, ensuring you can effectively contribute to all stages of the production process upon graduation.
