The ‘How to Belt’ Masterclass is for singers of all levels to develop/revisit the critical vocal technique, belting. Led by our Head of Music & Singing, Jonathan Grosberg, participants will be guided through the belting process.
An indispensable vocal skill for many performers, belting allows singers to produce powerful, resonant sounds with a mix of chest voice and head voice, projecting their voice over loud accompaniment without strain.
Under personalised guidance, this course will help you master this vital vocal technique and maintain vocal strength, clarity, and emotional expression in demanding pieces.
>Develop a safe and effective warm-up routine to prepare the voice for belting and prevent strain.
>Understand and apply the core techniques of belting, including breath control, vocal resonance, and range expansion.
>Gain practical experience in belting through guided exercises and song performance.
>Learn how to maintain vocal health and longevity while using powerful vocal techniques in demanding musical styles.
Morning session:
Focus on grounding the voice, warming up safely, and setting a solid foundation for healthy vocal use. The session will help avoid strain and promote longevity. With practical exercises and expert advice, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your vocal instrument and its potential.
Afternoon Session:
Refine belting techniques and learn how to apply them to song performance. Work on building vocal power, control, and range while addressing challenges specific to your voice. This hands-on session will culminate in a song, integrating everything learned during the day into a real-world musical setting.
