Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Continues Support of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Students

We’re delighted to announce an exciting new part-scholarship fund of £20,000 for the MFA Professional Acting course at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School from September 2025 – Thanks to the very generous support from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

The new fund will be awarded to one student from the UK, once they are offered a place on the course and subject to audition and means testing. This £20,000 scholarship will cover the majority of the fees for the winning student and help to open the door of this exceptional course to a wider pool of potential students.

The new scholarship is an extension of the very successful and long-standing relationship that the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has had with the school over many years, explains Georgina Sowerby – Head of the MFA Professional Acting course:

“We’re so grateful to the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation for their continued support and belief in the quality of our training and the calibre of our students. We know that this course is one of the most intensive and rigorous postgraduate actor training courses available in the UK, and to have added validation from such a respectable Foundation is hugely reassuring. Not forgetting the life-changing impact this new scholarship fund will have on a student who might otherwise not have been able to afford to study with us.”

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has been committed to supporting the training and development of talented performers from the UK for many years, having previously provided scholarships and bursaries to students studying BA Professional Acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, explains Sarah Miller from the Foundation:

“Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation is in place to champion access, participation and education in the arts, culture and heritage for all. We know how fantastic the training is at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and have been thrilled to see the positive impact of our annual scholarship funding there since 2015. Above and beyond the quality of training, we’ve always been impressed with the pastoral support and nurturing environment, which makes such a difference to the student experience. This Post Graduate Scholarship continues our partnership with Bristol Old Vic Theatre School with the shared aim of widening access to professional training for those who would otherwise be unable to take part.”

This new part-scholarship opportunity exists to encourage applicants suffering financial disadvantage, knowing that more than 2/3rds of the fees could be funded. We would encourage anyone thinking about applying for this course to start your application and reach out to our admissions team if you’d like an informal discussion. Or you could attend the open event on Saturday 15th February.
