Miroslaw Kusz

MA Performance Design Student

Biography

Miroslaw Kusz is an architect and designer interested in archaeology, film, and art history. He studied Architecture and Planning at UWE Bristol, completing an Erasmus exchange at Politecnico di Milano.  Influenced by the work of Tadao Ando and Louis Kahn, his design is characterised by clean lines, simple forms, and an acute sensitivity to light and shadow.  At Dunn Marino Architects, Miroslaw has contributed to architectural projects in Devon and the Isles of Scilly. His responsibilities included making technical drawings, 3D models, and visual renders.

Curious to explore the relationship between architecture and theatre, he pursued postgraduate studies in Performance Design at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. During this time, he developed rich visual experiences for live performance, including work as a designer for The Watsons (The Station, 2025) and Foxfinder (The Weston Studio, 2025). His work investigates how spatial design can shape emotional and narrative worlds, creating environments that are both conceptually rigorous and visually compelling.

Outside of work, Miroslaw enjoys running, reading, watching foreign films, and attending live music events. These interests provide him with fresh perspectives on creativity, mindfulness, and the diverse forms of storytelling that inspire his work.

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
