Drama Writing MA

Biography

Pearl is currently a Storyliner on the BAFTA-award winning medical drama Casualty. Before this, she assisted the Commissioning Team at UKTV.

She also volunteers with Rianne Pictures, a not-for-profit production company which champions female and non-binary filmmakers. Currently Senior Development Executive, Pearl created and managed the company’s first ever script reading window, which provided 80 writers with free feedback on their short film scripts. She also oversees the annual Women X Film Festival Script Competition.

After graduating from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School with a Masters in Drama Writing in 2021, Pearl was commissioned by the school to write two thirty-minute short films to showcase their upcoming graduates.

Pearl’s longer works for theatre (plays, verse plays and musicals) have been supported by The Customs House, South Shields, TYPify Youth Arts Festival and The Brewhouse, Taunton, while her short plays have been performed at venues including The Arcola, The Pleasance and Hope Mills.

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
