Rosa Grew-McEvoy

FdA Costume

Biography

Rosa is fascinated with traditional processes of surface decoration. She has applied embroidery, natural dyeing, and printing to the construction skills developed at BOVTS, including corsetry and tailoring.  Recent placements include Fawlty Towers, and she is excited to gain more experience in the industry broadly. Rosa wants to further explore methods of adornment with historical accuracy in period costume.

BOVTS credits: Costume Supervisor on No One Will Tell Me How to Start a Revolution (The Wardrobe Theatre), The Elves and the Shoemaker (Tour). Costume Maker on Twelfth Night (Malcolm X Community Centre), The Elves and the Shoemaker (Tour) and Emilia (Circomedia). Costume Assistant/Dresser Radium Girls (The Old Vic), Robin Hood and Marian (The Redgrave Theatre), Wilda and the Winter Whirlwinds (Tour), Henry V (The Old Vic). Costume Standby on It is What it is (BOVTV).

One of my favourite parts about BOVTS is that it feels ‘homegrown’. From the set to the costume, lighting, acting and sound, every single aspect of a theatre production or film is down to the students. The location of Clifton is so serene and the School being so small everyone knows each other and it feels so personal and special. Violet Morris, BA Professional Acting Student
