The Acting for Camera – Intermediate course has been designed to support those with some experience of screen acting to hone their skills. Whether you act as a hobby, have taken part in university productions, or are considering full-time conservatoire training, the programme will support you in your development as a performer. The course will give you a practical experience of screen acting, with a focus on using techniques developed by Sanford Meisner.
This course builds upon the foundational skills taught as part of the beginner level Introduction to Screen Acting course in April 2025. However, it is not mandatory to attend the beginner level course prior to attending the intermediate course. We welcome individuals with a working knowledge of performing for camera to sign up directly to this course.
Bristol Old Vic Theatre School offers a fun and nurturing environment in which to pursue your creative ambitions. The support and feedback available from your tutor will help you develop your natural talents and confidence in acting for camera.
> Enhance your understanding of acting for camera through step-by-step acting exercises;
> Develop your creative instincts by exploring techniques developed by Meisner;
> Conduct text analysis to translate scripts into believable performances;
> Perform scene work on camera and watch digital playback to enhance your learning;
> Obtain direct feedback from the course leader.
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday course. Sessions run from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. This course is taught in our rehearsal studios at Downside Road.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over by the time of the course start date.
