Hugo Dodsworth

MA Performance Design Student

Biography

Hugo is a Performance Designer, working holistically across disciplines of set, lighting, and video design. He received his BA (Hons) in Italian and History of Art from UCL in 2021, with the highest marked dissertation of his cohort, entitled After Dark: Light as a material for placemaking. In 2019, Hugo spent a year working as an electrician and lighting design assistant at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Hugo’s specialist skills include digital modelling and drafting, lighting design, visualisation and programming. BOVTS credits include: Romeo and Juliet (Redgrave Theatre); The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (The Station).

One of my favourite parts about BOVTS is that it feels ‘homegrown’. From the set to the costume, lighting, acting and sound, every single aspect of a theatre production or film is down to the students. The location of Clifton is so serene and the School being so small everyone knows each other and it feels so personal and special. Violet Morris, BA Professional Acting Student
