Peter McKintosh

Peter McKintosh is an award-winning British theatre designer working across theatre, musical theatre and opera in the UK and internationally. A graduate of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he has received Tony Award nominations for both Best Scenic Design and Best Costume Design for The 39 Steps on Broadway, and won the Olivier Award for Best Costume Design for Crazy for You.

His extensive career includes productions for the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Donmar Warehouse, Almeida, Old Vic, Young Vic, Chichester Festival Theatre and Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, alongside numerous West End and Broadway productions.

Notable credits include The 39 Steps, Summerfolk, Crazy for You, Guys and Dolls, Hello, Dolly!, The Sound of Music, The Winslow Boy and Sinatra the Musical. His international work includes productions in Paris, New York and beyond, as well as opera designs for English National Opera, the Royal Danish Opera and Canadian Opera Company.

Peter is also a founding member of Freelancers Make Theatre Work, advocating for the freelance theatre workforce.
