Biography
Olivier award winning Sophie has had recent roles in Feel Good on Channel 4, Ghosts and Everything I Know About Love on BBC, and was in Present Laughter at the Old Vic in 2019.
Sophie on BOVTS, “I had my heart utterly set on going to the BOVTS & my joy at getting a place knew no bounds. In my day it was just two plump crumbly houses knocked together. Not a ‘facility’ in sight save a large mirror in the basement room, a pay phone under the stairs and a vending machine in the smoky blue linoleumed green room. We had to turn up equipped with a cloak, some character shoes and the then ubiquitous leg warmer. It was perfect.”
It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
