Freelance opportunities

Shape the future of the drama industry…

Each term, we engage a range of freelance staff in a variety of roles across the Theatre School. Employing visiting professionals helps ensure our curricula remain informed by latest industry practice and that our students experience working with a variety of different practitioners.

Examples of freelance opportunities might include:

  • Short-term production-related contracts – e.g. directing or designing one of the School’s theatre productions or short films;
  • Specialist masterclasses and workshops – e.g. delivering half-day or day-long bespoke sessions in acting or production;
  • Short-term peripatetic teaching contracts – e.g. delivering skills-based classes throughout an academic term;
  • One-off commissions – e.g. new writing for a site-specific performance or short film.

All visiting freelancers are expected to abide by the School’s codes of conduct for staff and to demonstrate a commitment to the School’s Vision and Values, which underpins our approach to teaching and learning.

As soon as I visited the School, I fell in love with the place. Perhaps it sounds a bit irrational, but sometimes you get a vibe - and you just know! BOVTS gave me all the tools I needed to prepare for a career as an actor. Sahir Mehta, MA Professional Acting, 2018
