Alumnus Chris Grimes Interviews Alumnus Gregory Doran On The Good Listening To Show At Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

WATCH THE LIVE RECORDING HERE

What a fantastic evening we had last night! The space was filled with students, alumni, and theatre lovers who gathered for a truly special night of Shakespeare, insightful theatre chat, and creative inspiration.

The event featured a live podcast Q&A with alumni and Shakespeare expert Gregory Doran, hosted by fellow alum Chris Grimes. Gregory shared fascinating stories from his legendary career, offering an intimate look behind the curtain of world-class theatre. He discussed his time studying at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, with lovely reflections of Rudi Shelly and being back in the rehearsal rooms. It was fascinating to hear about his time as creative director at the Royal Shakespeare Company and his journey from there to world-renowned Shakespeare expert. It was an especially poignant event, as Gregory is currently directing a cohort of 3rd year BA Professional Acting students in Romeo & Juliet, and the podcast was recorded in the very rehearsal room! A massive thank you goes out to Chris Grimes and the team at The Good Listening To Show for hosting such a wonderful event (and to Bristol Beer Factory for providing the drinks), and to everyone who attended and brought such a warm energy to the room.

If you couldn’t make it to the live recording, don’t worry! The full podcast recording is now available, allowing you to sink your teeth into some tantalising discussion about the future of theatre, directing, and the timeless power of Shakespeare.
