Biography
Joe joined BOVTS in 2018 after several years as a visiting tutor and external lighting designer on public performances.
He is also a freelance lighting and video projection designer working in theatre, opera, dance and live music. He has worked on everything from large outdoor, events to two-way video streamed internet performances and TV drama.
Before moving to Bristol he taught at LIPA for many years, including twelve years as Head of Theatre & Performance Design & Technology.
He graduated with a BA Hons in Drama from Bristol University, and a PG Cert in Learning & Teaching for HE at Liverpool John Moores.
He is also a qualified Yoga teacher, studying a diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga.
Students developing and growing in confidence during their time here, seeing their work reaching professional standards in approach and execution; a student who intends to be a stage manager producing a wonderful sound design; a first year student making a lovely recording of a song for their recording project; tracking the careers of former students and seeing them be successful; being able to find a job opportunity for a recent graduate.
