Louise Thomas

Scenic Crafts Tutor

Biography

Louise trained in Fine Art at Leeds University and went on to gain a post grad. diploma in Figurative Sculpture at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. She then spent a decade working between the disciplines of Fine Art sculpture, animation and theatre which included 3 years leading an art production workshop that produced animatronic silicone figures for exhibition in Paris and Berlin inc. venues Théâtre du Châtelet and the Centre Pompidou.

For the past 6 years Louise has been Deputy Head of Props at the Royal Ballet and Opera in London before deciding to  make the move back to her roots in the west country and begin her role at BOVTS in November 2024.

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
