Amelia is a writer from South-East England. At the heart of her writing is a love of dark comedy and drama, driven by witty, fun, character-led storytelling. She is drawn to female-led narratives, with a strong desire to explore and expose the injustices of the female experience. She is particularly interested in writing about “good” characters who do bad things.
After graduating from Goldsmiths University, Amelia took part in the Marlowe Theatre Writers’ Room (2023-24), where she was mentored by playwright and dramaturg Leo Butler. During the programme she began developing Implants, a one-woman show about a young girl pursuing her lifelong dream of getting a boob job – with disastrous consequences. An extract from the play was later performed at a scratch night at the Alma Pub Theatre.
A big fan of TV comedy and dramas, some of her favourite shows include Motherland, Bad Sisters and Slow Horses. She is currently developing her first TV sitcom Sex Cops, and would love to work in a writers’ room for TV shows in the future.
Her full-length play Knockout follows three women who set out to take revenge on the predatory men in their hometown – a plan that quickly spirals out of control.
