Han Morgan

MA Drama Writing Student

Biography

Pronouns: they/them

Han is originally from Birmingham, where they began their career as a playwright in 2019 with This Time for the Young Rep at The Birmingham Repertory.  Since then they have branched into creating theatre for grown-ups and mostly write with a political lens, exploring power, injustice and revolution. In their Masters year they’ve focused on DIRTY.  Their work is determined and assured, but with a strong sense of play.  Writing with brilliant humour, heart, and humanity, Han uses their writing to speak up.

They have enjoyed seeing their writing on stage at venues around Bristol, including the PRSC, Bristol Improv Theatre, Lost Horizon and the Loco Klub.  In Autumn 2023 they’re taking DIRTY to the first of its fringe festivals, and re-staging their lockdown play at the Alma Tavern.  They want to continue writing with a social lens, creating work inspired by injustice and blending urgent themes with exciting theatricality.

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
