MA Performance Design Student


Biography

Marta is a performance designer and maker with a particular interest in immersive storytelling and the immediacy of live experiences which she has been exploring in her practice. Undertaking creative projects for festivals and music events, as well as theatres, and other arts and culture institutions of varied profiles.

As an active member of event organizing collectives, through the past years she has progressed from a volunteer into the head of design and construction, working in ongoing collaboration with groupings such as KarpatART foundation or The X festival.

Prior to studying MA Performance Design at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Marta graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre Design.
Marta’s credentials include: This House (Tobacco Factory), The Brink (The Wardrobe Theatre), Source Festival (main stage design and construction), Grajdół Festival (head of design and construction), Summer Contrast Festival (installation designer and maker).

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
