Rhiannon Binnington

MA Performance Design Student

Biography

Rhiannon specialises in set and costume design for theatre, with particular skill in model making and costume illustration, and a focus on in-depth research, and cross-company collaboration to inform her designs.  As a result, Rhiannon produces designs for performance that are thoroughly considered and researched, richly detailed and wildly creative.

Rhiannon is especially interested in horror and the gothic, as well as immersive, interactive and site specific and responsive theatre. She takes particular interest in the role and function of Story Telling in theatre and beyond.

Outside of academic training, Rhiannon has also worked as a carpentry and scenic paint workshop hand at Belgrade Production Services in Coventry. Prior to her training at BOVTS, Rhiannon received a BA Hons from Arts University Bournemouth in Performance Design (Scenography).

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
