Ruby Nex

FdA Costume Student

Biography

Ruby began her three-year journey at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School with a passion for corsetry, and has since developed her making skills to include an advanced understanding of tailoring, stretchwear, millinery, metalwork and leatherwork.

She has also successfully adapted to the role of costume supervisor, working with both contemporary and period themes.  In her final year, Ruby has explored the design process with a study in fantastical womenswear.

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
