Samuel Le Poidevin

Prior to completing this MfA in Professional Voice Studies, I graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a BA (Hons) in Acting before going on to work across television and film, with credits including Bridgerton, The Great and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.

My experience as a working actor, combined with specialist voice training, has given me a deeper understanding of how voice, language and text work together in performance. Throughout the course, I have enjoyed supporting actors in exploring Shakespeare, classical and contemporary texts, helping them interrogate language in a playful, practical way to uncover meaning, deepen connection to character and develop greater vocal freedom and expressivity. Alongside text work, my training has provided me with a structured approach to teaching accents and dialects, enabling actors to approach unfamiliar speech patterns with confidence and flexibility.

I hope to continue combining my work as an actor with actor coaching, supporting performers in developing healthy, responsive voices, engaging more deeply with text and building confidence in both speech and accent work. Alongside acting, I spent a year living in Japan teaching English privately to corporate professionals while studying the Japanese language. I also write for screen and am currently producing a short film that I wrote, which is filming throughout summer 2026.
