A spellbinding 2024 autumn season

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School invites you on four thrilling journeys this November. From swashbuckling adventures to enchanted woodlands and courtroom dramas, our autumn season will captivate audiences of all ages.

Step back in time with The Welkin, Lucy Kirkwood’s gripping courtroom drama set in 1759 Suffolk. As Halley’s Comet approaches, twelve women must determine the fate of accused murderer Sally Poppy in this powerful exploration of class, wealth, and feminism. (suitable for ages 14+)

Bristol Old Vic (Weston Studio), Sat 9 Nov – Sat 16 Nov

For our younger adventurers, Little Wren & The Autumn Moon brings Bristol’s Leigh Woods to magical life. With live music, puppetry and martial arts mayhem, this original fairy tale by Liz Felton explores how we care for our world amidst changing seasons. (suitable for ages 5+)

Bristol Old Vic (Weston Studio), Sat 16 Nov

Gather the family and set sail for Treasure Island – our reimagined festive treat by Bryony Lavery, based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Young Jim Hawkins faces off against the infamous Long John Silver in this epic tale of buried treasure and high-seas hijinks. Yo-ho-ho, indeed! (suitable for ages 6+)

The Redgrave Theatre, Sat 23 Nov – Sat 30 Nov

Finally, embrace the chill with Jack Frost & The Winter Freeze. Return to an enchanted Leigh Woods for an icy adventure from Liz Felton, filled with mischievous woodland sprites, hibernating animals and a family’s quest for Christmas answers. (suitable for ages 5+)

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
