We’re delighted that the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation is joining our pledge to provide at least 50% of all students on the new 2-term and 3-term Acting Foundation courses a £5,000 bursary to support half of their training costs.
The Foundation will provide four students on the new courses with £5,000 towards their fees, subject to them getting through the audition process, being offered a place and meeting the funding benchmark criteria. These scholarships will be known as the ‘Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarships.’
Both the School and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation stand together in the belief that professional training should be accessible for everyone, not just those with the means to pay for it. This ‘talent first’ approach is an increasingly important part of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s mission and values, which is very evident from the roll-out of the new Acting Foundation courses and the pledge to provide such a high number of part-funded places.
“We are extremely grateful to the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation for their continued support and investment in the School’s students and their training. It gives real validation to our aspirations as a forward thinking and equitable institution, enabling us to continue delivering the World class creative training we’re famous for.” Explains School Principal Stuart Harvey.
The new £20,000 scholarship fund will cover 50% of the fees for four student and help to open the door of this exceptional training to a wider pool of potential students, who may otherwise have not been able to consider it. The new scholarship fund is an extension of the very successful and long-standing relationship that the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation has had with the school over many years.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation is committed to supporting the training and development of talented performers, and is currently funding 36 performing arts scholarships in renowned schools and colleges across the UK. The Foundation has previously provided scholarships and bursaries to students studying BA Professional Acting and MFA Professional Acting at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
“Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation champions access, participation and education in the arts. We have been thrilled to see the positive impact of our annual scholarship funding at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School since 2015. With the School’s ambitious aim to fund 50% of places on their new Acting Foundation courses, we are excited to continue our partnership and we would encourage other funders to step forward and support the School on this important mission” explains a spokesperson from the Foundation.
