We are delighted to announce that MA Screen Acting student Carys Daniels has been cast in an upcoming Apple TV series based on Metropolis, from Philip Kerr’s global bestselling book series Berlin Noir. It will serve as a prequel story showing the origin of Bernie Gunther in Berlin in 1928. Carys will play Dora Meysel throughout the series:

“Being part of this project has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Filming alongside my training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School has meant I’ve been able to apply what I’m learning directly to the work, which has been invaluable. It’s also been really special to cross paths with alumni on the job, which says a lot about the strength of the training and the community around it. It’s been a privilege to be part of such a thoughtful and talented team.”

The show is written by Oscar-winning writer Peter Straughan (Conclave, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and directed by Tom Shankland (SAS: Rogue Heroes, The Serpent) & Luke Snellin (One Day, Feel Good). It features an impressive cast including Jack Lowden, Colin Firth, Jessica Gunning, Maxine Peake, Daniel Mays, Sam Riley, Liz Kingsman, and Roger Allam. The production is being handled by Bad Wolf and Playtone, Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman’s production company.

We can’t wait to follow Carys’  production journey, and we’re proud of her achievement.
