Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is deeply saddened to share the news that Francis Thomas (White), former Head of Voice and Speech, passed away peacefully on Wednesday 11 February at the age of 95, surrounded by his family.

Francis was a much-loved teacher, mentor and colleague whose influence reached far beyond the rehearsal rooms and studios of the School. As Head of Voice and Speech, he played a vital role in shaping generations of actors.

Francis is survived by his wife, Lynette (Erving-White), and daughters Miranda and Francesca.

His funeral will take place on Wednesday 18 March at 2.15pm at Westerleigh Crematorium, followed by an afternoon tea.

Family and friends are creating a Book of Remembrance to celebrate Francis’ life and work. Former students, colleagues and friends are warmly invited to contribute a memory, anecdote or photograph.
