25th June 2025
Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is proud to announce that Sunny Chung (BA Professional Acting ’25) has been named as New Earth Theatre’s Constellation Creatives Drama Student Bursary recipient for 2025.
The Constellation Creative Bursary – now in its 13th year – aims to encourage and promote greater participation and representation of British East and South East Asian actors on stage and screen.
Sunny auditioned in front of a judging panel of industry professionals, with an aim to demonstrate “that they have the talent, skills and commitment to succeed as a professional actor.” As part of their prize, Sunny will receive a £1000 bursary and a year’s subscription to Spotlight, as well as casting workshops and new headshots.
Sunny commented: “I feel honoured to receive the 2025 New Earth Theatre Constellation Creatives Bursary. Performing in front of such a wonderful panel was a huge privilege, and I am forever grateful to have had the experience. It’s also been a pleasure representing the phenomenal POC talent that exists at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Though we are few, we are unstoppable. And that’s pretty neat.”
Ali de Souza, Director of Drama at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School commented: “I am absolutely delighted that Sunny has been awarded the prize. This is an outstanding initiative and Sunny is truly a most deserving recipient.”
New Earth is the leading and longest-running British East and Southeast Asian (BESEA) touring theatre company in the UK. Read more about their work at newearththeatre.org.uk.
Congratulations, Sunny! We’re so proud of you.
