Alice Flynn

MA Drama Writing

Biography

Flynn is a queer, neurodivergent writer and theatremaker from Reading, who is interested in the folkloric, the surreal, and the strange. She takes inspiration from her Irish heritage, historical oddities, and miscarriages of justice. She is most interested in stories which give voice to the voiceless, embrace the other, and centre human connection and solidarity above all.

She has a deep interest in political thriller and horror, and takes particular joy in worldbuilding, which led to an interest in writing for videogames and immersive installations, as well as for more traditional theatre settings. Prior to her studies she participated in the BFI Script Lab, Headlong’s TikTok Shocks and Sam Pout’s Omni-Wright programme.

She graduated from University of Birmingham in 2019, and founded Dogmouth Theatre, a grassroots company that produces work exploring feminist themes. Works under the Dogmouth moniker include Sluts With Consoles (VAULT Festival, Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe), 1000 Ways The World Will End & How It Starts Again (King’s Head Theatre), and most recently Little Sister, which was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize For Playwriting in 2021 and ran at The Glitch in February 2026. She also produces and co-hosts a biannual Queer cabaret event Howling At The Moon.
