Biography

Alyssa is a Cornish director and writer, whose work mainly centres around new writing, musical theatre and creating theatre for unconventional spaces.

Having read a BA(Hons) in Creative Writing and History, she has a passion for showcasing real stories, true experiences and local histories in a creative and theatrical space. She is interested in creating stories exploring the human condition, delving into how we interact, impact and connect with each other on a human level.

Her credits include: Director on Scenes with Girls by Miriam Battye (The Wardrobe Theatre, 2024); Assistant Director on A Very Expensive Poison by Lucy Prebble, directed by Aaron Parsons (Circomedia, 2024); Director and Production Manager on Notes to Future Self by Lucy Caldwell (theSpace on the Mile at Edinburgh Fringe, 2023); Director, Writer and Performer on Hillhead Estate (Bath Spa University, 2023); and Director on High School Musical: On Stage! By David Simpatico (Prior Park College, 2022).

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
