Elena is a British-German director and writer, with a BA in English and Theatre studies from the University of Warwick, who passionate about making work that is funny, political and deeply human. From opera, to classic plays and new writing, Elena’s experience spans a wide range of different styles and mediums. She believes strongly in the power that theatre has to change hearts and minds, as well as bring communities together. Directing credits include: The Etienne Sisters (Bristol Old Vic), Carmen (Warwick Arts Centre), Entertaining Mr Sloane (Warwick Arts Centre), Rock Me Asleep (Warwick FAB studios), See You Tomorrow (Freshfest). Assistant director credit: Macbeth (Tobacco Factory Theatres). Internship credits include: Macbeth– Dramaturgy (Oper Frankfurt), Mitridate– Directing (Staatsoper Hamburg), Die Dunkle Seite des Mondes– Directing (Staatsoper Hamburg). Elena is currently developing a piece of her own new writing titled Bulking, with her Bristol-based theatre collective Drunken Ravens.
