Inge-Vera Lipsius is an American-Dutch director, theatre-maker, and writer. She is based in London.
She has directed and written sold-out productions in London and Amsterdam. Her play ‘Quad Loop’ (www.merchanthouse.nl/quad-loop) is an all-female choral re-telling of the highly-publicised Kamila Valieva doping scandal at the 2022 Winter Olympics. ‘Quad Loop’ was one of six plays selected for the Bomb Factory Theatre New Writing Showcase 2025 at the Bush Theatre; it had sold-out preview performances at Pushkin House in Bloomsbury, London. Inge-Vera made her directorial debut in Amsterdam with ‘Paranoia’ (www.merchanthouse.nl/paranoia), her adaptation (the first stage adaptation) of the post-war novella by the classic Dutch author Willem Frederik Hermans.
Inge-Vera’s most recent project, ‘Facility 111’ (www.merchanthouse.nl/facility-111), is a surreal new audio play (original writing) that takes place in complete darkness, asking audiences to visualize a series of poetic images in two cities. It premiered at Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, was listed in Lyn Gardner’s Top 20 Picks for the Fringe, and was developed with Soho Theatre Labs. Inge-Vera graduated from the University of Cambridge (BA and Master’s), where she studied literature and theatre, and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. She will be directing ‘The Crocodile’ by Tom Basden at Bristol Old Vic Theatre in June.
