Mette Rutter is a Bristol-based set and costume designer for stage and screen who enjoys creating bold theatre that leave a lasting impression. She has a keen interest in sculptural set designs and bringing natural textures on stage. Her approach is sensitive and playful, prioritising the audience’s emotional experience.
Whilst completing her MA in performance design at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Mette developed designs across numerous short films and venues such as the Tobacco Factory. In 2025, her design of ‘Bonnie and Orville’ won Best Production Design at the Big Fridge International Film Festival.
With strong skills in model making, technical drawings and awareness of green book practices, she is excited to create socially minded theatre in the future.
