Mickey Dimitrova is a Bulgarian-born, London-based performance designer whose work delights audiences with intentional and daring concepts. Her approach is rooted in a comprehensive understanding of a text’s world and its characters’ journeys, and her practice is deeply collaborative and constantly curious. She enjoys creating work that plays with audience expectations, incorporating moments of multifunctionality, surprise, subversion, and transformation.
Before training at BOVTS, Mickey was the media production manager at ‘HowTheLightGetsIn’ festival, overseeing tech, staging, and film crews. She was known for making the impossible possible and takes this attitude and the technical expertise she has gained to inform the development and production of her designs.
She also holds a transdisciplinary degree in Liberal Arts from King’s College London, during which she specialised in film studies.
BOVTS credits include Costume Design for Macbeth/Twelfth Night (The Station) and Set and Costume Design for Blackthorn (Bristol Old Vic)
