Biography

Ruths interest for costume has developed over the years, having drawn inspiration from a mixture of experiences through traveling and work which has led to her current studies at BOVTS, specializing in refined pattern cutting and costume enhancement/dying techniques.  Ruth values the importance of bringing sustainable practices into the industry and hopes to make a positive impact in her future working environment.

Previous credits include: Absolute scenes (The Marble Factory), Troilus & Cressida (The Redgrave), Toy Plastic Chicken (The Wardrobe Theatre), Three Seagulls (Bristol Old Vic), A Sense Of Occasion (Christchurch Studios), While Shepherds Watched (Touring Show), Macbeth (Bristol Old Vic), Pride & Prejudice (The Mount Without), LOAM (Bristol Old Vic), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (The Malcolm X Centre), Two Alone (Christchurch Studios), The Hive (Glastonbury Festival), Improvised dance, Theatre & Play – The Original Spinners (Various locations).

 

It was always stressed that the contacts you make during your training are incredibly important, and your classmates are likely to end up being on set alongside you in the future. After working with a director of photography on one of the School’s short films, I was invited to work on a project with him outside of Bristol - proving that the professionals we meet via the School, may one day give us a call to action!
